Dr. Paul Sartori has over twenty years of leadership experience, in diverse businesses, with the majority of that experience being in healthcare industries, and involving global responsibilities.  He has served on the management committees of these businesses since the early 1980’s, and has been directly involved in determining business and organizational strategies.  He currently is a Partner in the management consulting and executive search firm of Christenson, Hutchison and McDowell, LLC.

Prior to electing to go into organizational and executive consulting and executive search, Paul’s executive experience has included managing and directing HR, communications and government relations in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as in diagnostics.  As the senior HR executive for CIBA Corning Diagnostics, he served on the executive committee and worked directly with the global Board representing Corning and CIBA to set HR policy and organizational strategies for the joint venture.  At CIBA, he was on the US pharmaceutical executive committee for nearly 10 years responsible for HR strategy, organizational development, communications and management oversight for several subsidiary operations. He served on numerous international task forces.

Paul played a major role in the merger of CIBA and Sandoz to become Novartis; serving as the Executive Vice-President for HR, Communications and Government Relations. He was asked to lead a global task force to restructure global HR operations for Novartis and lived in Basle, Switzerland for approximately a year in that capacity.  Most recently, Paul was Senior Vice-President of HR for Covance, Inc., a global pharmaceutical services company where he played a lead role in the company’s attempted merger with a major competitor, and the subsequent reorganizing of the executive team in Covance to manage the businesses more globally.

Paul has broad and deep experience in organizational change, building and creating executive teams, and executive selection and development.   He has had direct experience in managing restructure efforts, creating joint ventures, managing and establishing subsidiary units, and creating effective management processes that engage the workforce productively.

Paul has presented his work and ideas at a number of forums including a national conference sponsored by the Center for Creative Leadership, and to executive gatherings in Europe, Asia and the US.   He has given guest lectures and taught at the business schools at Cornell, the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and the University of Virginia.   He currently is on the Advisory Council of the Center for Strategic Human Resources Management at Rutgers University.

Dr. Sartori earned a BA in History with Honors from Northeastern University, and an MA in Teaching, a Ph.D. and an MBA from the University of Virginia.   He currently resides in Lawrenceville, NJ with his wife Anne, who is an independent education consultant advising college-bound students with learning disabilities.
